People Data Labs is one of the more transparent vendors in this space in one specific sense: it actually publishes pricing on its website, which most of the vendors in this comparison series do not. That transparency makes it a useful baseline for showing exactly what a credit model costs as usage scales, because the numbers are public.

PDL's Person Enrichment API runs on a credit system where each successful match, meaning a record the API actually returns, consumes one credit. Plans start around $98 a month for Person data and $100 a month for Company data as separate line items, and per-record cost lands around $0.28 per successful match on the Pro tier according to third-party pricing breakdowns of PDL's published rates.

What "per successful match" actually means for your bill

The credit only gets charged when a record is found and returned, which sounds fairer than charging for every attempt. In practice it means your bill scales directly with your match rate against PDL's dataset for your specific target population, not with your usage volume alone. Two teams sending the same number of requests can have very different bills if one team's target list happens to match PDL's dataset better than the other's.

The Person Search API and Company Search API add another dimension: a single search request can return between 1 and 100 records depending on the size parameter you pass, and each record returned consumes its own credit. A batch search that pulls 100 records at once costs 100 credits in one call, which is easy to underestimate when writing the integration.

Where a flat unlimited license changes the math

Kooperativa charges one price, $499 a month or $449 a month on an annual payment, and every endpoint (person enrichment, company enrichment, search, bulk enrich, monitors) is included with no per-record metering. The only constraint is a shared rate limit of 500 requests per minute per workspace, which exists to keep the service stable, not to cap how many records you can pull in a month.

That structure matters most for exactly the workloads where PDL's credit model gets expensive fast: continuous enrichment pipelines, bulk backfills of an existing CRM, or any workflow where usage is closer to constant than occasional. A credit-metered API charges linearly with volume forever. A flat license does not, once you're past the break-even point relative to what you'd otherwise spend on credits.

When PDL is the better fit

If your actual usage is low and irregular, a handful of lookups a week rather than an ongoing pipeline, PDL's free tier (100 records/month) or entry-level paid tier can cost less in absolute dollars than a flat monthly license, simply because you're paying for a small amount of usage rather than for unlimited capacity you don't need yet. PDL also offers a Person Identify API and IP Enrichment product Kooperativa doesn't currently have equivalents for.

The honest breakeven question is usage volume, not which vendor is "better." Below a certain number of monthly lookups, per-credit pricing is cheaper. Above it, a flat license is cheaper and removes the need to forecast usage at all.
